Red Wine Resveratrol – Benefits of Wine Consumption

It seems rare that we are told as consumers to go ahead and drink alcohol, but such is the case nowadays when it comes to red wine. Due to recent studies that have isolated a compound within red wine known as resveratrol, it seems that we are indeed now encouraged to drink away, at least in moderation. One glass of red wine resveratrol at dinner per evening can have stunning results on the prevention of cancer as well as other important benefits as well. These range from the disease prevention angle, to the more purely aesthetic.

Some of the anti-aging properties that have been shown to exist in red wine resveratrol include the ability to fight wrinkles in the skin by boosting collagen levels. Isolated resveratrol has been used to formulate skin creams, as a result of this, as one doesn’t want to splash wine on their face in the morning or rub it into their skin at night. In addition, resveratrol may assist with weight loss, increase lean muscle, and help to boost metabolism. All of these activities seem related to its ability to impact the body’s hormonal levels in a positive way, balancing them and leading to a more youthful figure and facial appearance.

In addition, red wine resveratrol performs the serious function of helping to combat cancer and heart disease. This is due to its blood thinning properties as well as the fact that it is an antioxidant, and one of the most powerful ones available for human consumption. Studies dating back to the 1990’s show that drinking wine with meals can help prevent heart disease, but only recently have scientists understood that this may be why. With the compound now isolated, it’s even possible now to skip the wine and just take the supplement, for maximum benefit.

However, some would argue that the maximum benefit lies in enjoying one’s meal with a glass of red wine resveratrol. There is a reason the body is wired to enjoy this, as it may turn out to be a survival tactic. Of course, all drinking should be kept in moderation, and eating a handful of grapes could be just as effective. Binge drinking negates any positive effects that the resveratrol has in the body, so this is important to keep in mind before reaching for that bottle this evening in the hopes of fighting cancer through consumption of wine.
